Podcast Episode 50 – Chris Poland & Mike Orlando

Posted in Audio, Feed, Interviews on November 14th, 2011 by marsaries

The latest episode of the Mars Attacks Podcast contains interviews with Chris Poland of Megadeth fame, and Mike Orlando of Adrenaline Mob. Chris discusses what he is currently up to with Ohm, and Ohmphrey, and addresses his solo work, and why Damn The Machine came to an end. His tenure in Megadeth is not discussed as this portion of the interview will form part of this month’s Classic Albums Column.

Mike Orlando discusses putting Adrenaline Mob together, writing the material for the band’s self titled EP, and what it was brining all of the members into the band among other things.

The episode also contains a review of the Iced Earth, White Wizzard and Fury UK show that host Victor M. Ruiz took in this weekend.

You’ll hear tracks from Megadeth, Adrenaline Mob, Ohm, Damn The Machine, Sick Speed, Dave Reffett and Iced Earth during the episode.

Mars Attacks Podcast 28 – Greg Prato

Posted in Audio, Feed, Interviews, News on February 11th, 2011 by marsaries

This week’s episode of Mars Attacks features an interview with Greg Prato author of The Eric Carr Story and When MTV Ruled the World (among others). The interview is split between both of these books, as both where released around the same time. During the interview he details what it was like to put both books together, what hard rock and metal musicians where interviewed for both (including members of Kiss, Judas Priest, Carmine Appice, Twisted Sister, Anthrax, etc.) and how difficult it was to get them involved in his projects. Some of the other items discussed with Greg are which testimonials (if any) surprised him, why he decided to release both books, and his two upcoming releases, an autobiography of Carmine Appice which he is currently writing alongside the legendary drummer, and Sack Exchange his first non-music related book which is centered around the New York Jets of the 1980s.

80s Theme Show

Posted in News on March 19th, 2010 by marsaries

Lovely spring like day in NJ, for those of you not keeping score I am on the other side of the Atlantic for most of the remainder of the month. In any event, since I’m actually on vacation I haven’t been able to post this sooner, but tonight’s repeat of Mars Attacks contains an all 80s show. Not so much bands that came out of the 80s (there are some of those) but there are also bands like Priest, Kiss and Maiden, that have obviously been around previous to the 80s. The episode includes the following artists:

Motorhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Kiss, Dokken, Y&T, Krokus, Black Sabbath, Twisted Sister, Poison, Guns N Roses, Van Halen, Helloween, W.A.S.P., Tesla, MSG, Scorpions, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne, Testament, Megadeth, Metallica and Anthrax

Episode 18 – Dave McClain Machine Head / Sacred Reich

Posted in Interviews, Radio Show on February 4th, 2010 by marsaries

Do to a last minute scheduling conflict we had to switch up gears and resurrect an interview I did back in 93 with current Machine Head drummer Dave McClain. At the time he was part of Sacred Reich.

The interview took place shortly after the recording of Sacred Reich‘s Independent album. Items discussed during this interview are the album Independent, how he joined Sacred, his early influences, touring, and the advent of grunge. Since Dave is knows as one of metals premiere drummers, it is interesting to also hear him mention how he’s never recognized, and doesn’t know why people would want his autograph.

Items discussed are as follows:

Flotsam and Jetsam, Sepultura, Meat Puppets, Gin Blossoms, Murder Card, Prong, Phil Rind, A Question?, Peter Criss, Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio, Igor Cavalera, Pantera, Vinnie Paul, New Titans On The Block, Napalm Death, Sick Of It All, Metallica, Fear Factory, Biohazard, Rush, Ice T, Public Enemy, Edie Brickell, The Sundays, Dave Jerden, Hollywood Records, Alice In Chains, Jane’s Addiction, Megadeth, Guns N Roses.

Songs played during the show:

Independent – Sacred Reich
Crashing Around You – Machine Head
Heal – Sacred Reich
Halo – Machine Head
Free – Sacred Reich
The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears – Machine Head
Crawling – Sacred Reich
Imperium – Machine Head

Songs Played Behind my banter:

Aesthetics Of Hate – Machine Head
Just Like That – Sacred Reich
From This Day – Machine Head
Days Turn Blue To Gray – Machine Head
